ASPEC SYSTEMS

MANUAL AND AUTOMATED SOLID PHASE EXTRACTION SYSTEMS

Get the most from your analytical systems with trusted results

Solid phase extraction (SPE) is a highly selective cleanup technique that eliminates matrix effects and concentrates compounds present as traces to improve analytical detection.  The ASPEC® extraction line offers hands-free solutions that provides increased sample throughput and reliable test results while providing the traceability needed when studying drugs metabolites, contaminants, or proteins in biological, food, or environmental matrices.

Positive pressure for reproducible extractions

Positive pressure extraction with unique sealing cap design increases reproducibility from sample to sample.  The syringe pump in automated ASPEC systems delivers accurate volume dispensing and full control of sorbent drying.

Smart design for maximised performance

Mobile rack technology on automated ASPEC systems  enables multiple fraction elutions per sample, and additional sample preparation steps after SPE.  The optional dual syringe pump handles a broad volume range with volumes as low as 10 µL for combined sample clean-up and liquid handling applications.

Versatile software control for optimised productivity

TRILUTION® Software on automated ASPECs allows for multiple liquid handling applications such as liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and SPE on the same system.  Optimise throughput and efficiency by processing samples in either batch or sequential mode.  Perform multiple elution and parallel solvent testing to quickly automate and optimise method development.

Features

Intuitive error handling for trusted results

The syringe pump pressure-sensing module in automated ASPEC systems provides error handling for high cartridge pressure or clogged liquid lines and monitors pressure on each fluid path individually. Optional jet wash rinse stations minimise carryover and cross contamination.

Parallel processing for maximum efficiency

The four-probe Z-arm on ASPEC 274 and 274 LV systems enables processing of four samples in parallel, increasing throughput and efficiency.

Versatile features for large sample volumes

The ASPEC 271 LV and 274 LV systems accommodate large sample volumes. The probes are connected to a sample selection valve to manage large volumes without compromising liquid handler bed space, providing reliable automation and flexibility for both small- and large-volume SPE applications. Optional dual-drain mobile racks separate aqueous and organic waste to reduce disposal costs.

Unmatched versatility

Automated ASPEC systems offer a variety of features to fit your workflows and give you the flexibility you need, with:

  • Multiple fraction elution (up to nine with 1mL cartridges)
  • Single syringe pump enables air push from either syringes or external air sources
  • Modular design allows use of a large range of collection tubes from 2 mL vials to 15 mL tubes (16 x 100 mm)
  • Dual syringe pump option manages volumes from 10 μL to 25 mL with high accuracy and precision
  • Multiple sequential extractions from the same sample
  • Transfer eluates in sealed injection vials or directly into an LC injection valve
  • Optional GX Direct Injection Module for performing on-line injections onto HPLC or LC/MS systems
  • Use as an SPE instrument or a liquid handling instrument.  Allows for easy pre- and post-purification processing

Systems

ASPEC PPM

Improve manual SPE reproducibility

The ASPEC® PPM (Positive Pressure Manifold) uses positive pressure to improve reproducibility and recovery for SPE applications.  With its precise flow rate control, the manifold improves consistency among samples and ensures uniform flow for both low and high viscosity solutions.  With the ability to accommodate 96-well plate formats and viscous samples, it is also an ideal choice for sample clean up prior to LC/MS for bioanalyses.

ASPEC 241

Compact system for basic SPE automation

This compact ASPEC® system combines positive pressure SPE with precise liquid handling for reliable automated SPE applications.  With its minimised footprint, it is the ideal choice for basic SPE automation on 1, 3, or 6 mL cartridges for labs where bench space or throughput is limited.  The dual syringe pump option allows for automated internal standard addition.

ASPEC 271

Ultimate versatility system for basic and advanced SPE automation

This ASPEC® system provides the ultimate in versatility by combining flexible positive pressure SPE, precise liquid handling, large bed capacity, and on-line integration with LC systems.  With its large cartridge capacity and small footprint, it enables unattended processing of a high number of samples per day for any SPE application, even those requiring multiple extractions.  The dual syringe pump option and injection module allow for automation of any liquid handling protocol such as SPE, LLE, SLE, and GPC/SPE, including LC integration.

ASPEC 274

High throughput system for basic and advanced SPE automation, process up to four samples in parallel

This ASPEC® system for positive pressure SPE maximises throughput by processing up to four samples in parallel.  With its small footprint and multiple probes, it is the ideal choice for high-throughput SPE automation on 1, 3, or 6 mL cartridges.

ASPEC 271 LV

Ultimate versatility system for basic and advanced small to large-volume SPE automation

This ASPEC® system provides ultimate workflow automation of small- to large-volume SPE applications by combining flexible positive pressure SPE, precise liquid handling, large bed capacity, and on-line integration with LC systems.  With a single probe, this system is ideal for lower-throughput applications and is highly flexible allowing you to automate other sample preparation techniques such as LLE.

ASPEC 274 LV

High throughput system for small- to large-volume SPE automation, process up to four samples in parallel

This ASPEC® system for positive pressure SPE maximises throughput by processing up to four samples in parallel.  With its small footprint and multiple probes, it is the ideal choice for high-throughput SPE automation on 3 or 6 mL cartridges.
